The school community at Tendring Technology College in Essex are coming together to celebrate a recent Ofsted report which found that the school offers a ‘Good’ standard of education. The school was praised for the ‘dramatic improvements’ made since a previous inspection and the high standards around the school.
Inspectors stated that students “enjoy attending Tendring Technology College” and recognised that the school is a productive environment for its young people. Ofsted also praised the atmosphere around the school site, where students felt safe and supported to learn well.
The report highlights the support from AET in driving these improvements, noting that the trust has “played an integral part in this”.
Other key highlights recognised in the report include the ambition in teaching, ensuring that students do well in almost every subject. Staff feel well supported during this process of improvement and acknowledge how the school has changed to offer students a much better education.
The report also noted how school leaders have worked hard to transform the community into one where students are happy to work hard and enjoy coming to school.
The careers programme at Tendring was described as a particular strength, raising aspirations for the community as a whole. Students were found to understand what their options are after school, whether that’s employment, further education, or an apprenticeship. Sixth Form students hold high aspirations for their future and are looking at medicine and biomedical science options.
We are particularly proud that the inspectors found that students with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported in lessons at TTC, with teaching adapted to meet their needs.
This is brilliant news for the school community at Tendring. Now rated ‘Good’ in all categories, the school can continue to impact its local community for the better.
Tom Burt, Principal at Tendring Technology College, said:
“We are all so pleased with this fantastic Ofsted report which notes the incredible change our school has gone through over the past few years. The school environment is totally transformed from the last time Ofsted came to inspect us.
“I want to thank everyone who has been involved with our journey of improvement for their tireless efforts. I also want to thank our students and their families for all their support during this process as well as their ongoing support of our work.”
Johanna Thompson, Regional Education Director at AET, said:
“Huge congratulations to Tom, his staff, and the whole TTC community on this absolutely wonderful Ofsted report. It is clear to see that TTC is now providing a first-class education in a school environment which has been specifically recognised for being so supportive and encouraging to all. I am excited to see how this school continues to develop and improve over the coming years.”
